Bob Richardson, ASC on AIR
Bob Richardson, ASC seems to have a habit of being first to shoot with new prototype cameras. AIR was the first feature that I know of to use the ALEXA 35. Pre-production models, of course.
Bob explained, “When we heard about the ARRI ALEXA 35, I was instantly attracted to it. Not only was it receiving interesting reports from DITs I knew, but I was also doing research. I thought, ‘Okay, let’s go see this.’ Ben Affleck and I went to test it for AIR and we just said, ‘This is beautiful. Let’s try to get this camera.’ The added advantage of the ALEXA 35 camera was that it was Super35, not Large Format, so now it opened up a wide range of lensing.” read more…
Mandy Walker, AM, ASC, ACS at ARRI Rental NY
Mandy Walker, AM, ASC, ACS will discuss her work at an ARRI Close-Up event in New York on Tuesday, Jan 31 at ARRI Rental from 6:30 – 9:30 pm.
Ms. Walker has been nominated for an Oscar in Best Cinematography 2023 for her work on ELVIS. (AM, by the way, is Member of the Order of Australia, for service in a particular field of activity.)

Darius Khondji, ASC, AFC receives Angénieux Cinematography Tribute at Cannes
Angénieux hosts the “Pierre Angénieux Tribute” every year at the Cannes Film Festival to celebrate an exceptional cinematographer’s career. Darius Khondji ASC, AFC receives the ninth Pierre Angénieux Cinematography Tribute this year at Cannes on May 27, 2022.
Previously, Darius appeared on the cover of the February 2012 edition and in an interview about Midnight in Paris; in a February 2013 article about Philippe Parreno’s Marilyn; an ALEXA 65 article in June 2017; and an article by Chris Silano and Olga Abramson about focusing for Darius on Uncut Gems in July 2020.

Effective June 1, 2019, he has been directing worldwide sales strategy and business development activities at Tribe7 — the technology start-up founded by Bradford Young, ASC and Neil Fanthom. Haskell Wexler, ASC passed away today. He was 93. Haskell won Academy Awards as Cinematographer on Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? and Bound for Glory. Galerie Cinema is an exhibition of photos by filmmakers. It’s open to the public from March 10–April 10, 2015 at Payne Whitney House, 972 5th Avenue (at 79th Street) in New York. ASC Clubhouse Completed
With renovations completed, the stunningly beautiful ASC clubhouse re-opened for business on Thursday, June 3rd–a day before Cine Gear 2010. The house was built in 1903 as a private Hollywood residence, and was purchased by the ASC in 1936 (17 years after its founding). Inside, it looks like a set.
