Vive le Film

Reports from around the world show that film is alive and well and living and thriving in Tokyo and Paris. Masa Yasumoto of Sanwa reports 4 motion picture film labs in Tokyo, and “We still rent film cameras… and some customers can shoot cheaper on film than with digital cameras.” Alexander Bscheidl called with exciting news from Vantage Paris about their recent workshop with Kodak and Film Factory: “We shot on film in 16mm and 35mm, spherical and anamorphic. The film was processed at Film Factory while we had lunch, and by 2:30 pm we were looking at dailies and grading shortly after that. It was wonderfully quick.” read more…

Sebastien Gonon reports from Paris about shooting a major campaign of shampoo commercials on 35mm film (Kodak Vision3) with ARRI 435 cameras using anamorphic lenses (Hawk V-Lite 1.3x squeeze).
