SIGMA fp RAW Video Recording

This is a quick summary of the full article just published in July FDTimes, issue 103.

SIGMA announced a major firmware update, V2.00, for their fp camera and the big news is support for RAW video recording.

DCI 4K 12-bit / HDMI RAW output.

RAW recording via HDMI with Atomos Ninja V monitor-recorder. (Free AtomOS firmware update for Ninja V is required).

Blackmagic RAW recording via HDMI with Blackmagic Video Assist 12G models. (Requires firmware update of Video Assist 12G models using Video Assist Update 3.3.)

“Into The Rising Sun” with Blackmagic Cameras

Scott Wilson and Andre Dupuis started Echo Bay Media 20 years ago to focus mainly on travel documentary TV production. Recently, they co-produced a mini-series about Japan. They shot with a Blackmagic Design Pocket Cinema Camera 6K, Pocket Cinema Camera 4K and URSA Mini Pro 4.6K G2. The Blackmagic Design URSA Mini Pro 4.6K G2 was our main “A” Camera. Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K & RAW

Blackmagic Camera 6.2 update eanbles Blackmagic RAW in the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K.

The Pocket Cinema Camera 4K has a Micro Four Thirds (MFT) size 18.96 x 10 mm sensor. The lens mount has a Flange Focal Depth of 19.25mm and its inside diameter is nominally 40.2 mm Ø.

Blackmagic RAW is a new codec that combines the quality and benefits of RAW with the ease of use, speed and file sizes of traditional video formats. File sizes are smaller, which means recording time is longer. You’ll be able to record 2 hours of Blackmagic RAW in 4K on a single 256GB SD UHS-II card.    read more…

Blackmagic Camera Update 1.9.7

Blackmagic Design Camera 1.9.7 software is now available on the Blackmagic Design website. It includes dashboard on screen menus and disk formatting for the Blackmagic Cinema Camera and Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera.
