SIGMA fp RAW Video Recording

This is a quick summary of the full article just published in July FDTimes, issue 103.

SIGMA announced a major firmware update, V2.00, for their fp camera and the big news is support for RAW video recording.

DCI 4K 12-bit / HDMI RAW output.

RAW recording via HDMI with Atomos Ninja V monitor-recorder. (Free AtomOS firmware update for Ninja V is required).

Blackmagic RAW recording via HDMI with Blackmagic Video Assist 12G models. (Requires firmware update of Video Assist 12G models using Video Assist Update 3.3.)

Jeromy Young, Atomos CEO, on ProRes RAW

Normally, this discussion about Atomos, Apple ProRes RAW and the Lumix S1H would be in person. But the new normal in our Full Frame 4K world is a sometimes fuzzy video image of dubious resolution, beloved by, among many others, exercise-at-home Zumba instructors and bunkered executives. One of these executives, Jeromy Young, CEO of Atomos, was on screen from Melbourne, the far side of the world where many of us hunkered down here would prefer to be. Panasonic S1H Concept + Design

Atomos RAW over HDMI from Lumix S1H

Atomos and Panasonic announced 35mm Full-Frame RAW video over HDMI from the Lumix S1H to Ninja V. Panasonic S1H will be able to output 5.9K 30p and C4K 60p as RAW data via HDMI. ATOMOS Ninja V and Shogun 7 will be able to record Apple ProRes RAW from the S1H HDMI output. ATOMOS Neon 17, 24, 31 and 55-inch Monitor/Recorders will as well. S1H RAW Recording from HDMI to ATOMOS products is expected to be released around Spring 2020.
