Band Pro Open House 2019: Dean Semler ASC, ACS guest of honor
Band Pro’s annual Open House takes place on Thursday, December 12, 2019 from 1 to 8 pm at their Burbank Headquarters. Dean Semler, ASC, ACS is the guest of honor. (Academy Award for Best Cinematography on Dances with Wolves – 1990). Exhibitors this year include almost every brand from A to Z. Two prototypes of the new full frame Angenieux Optimo Primes will be available for eyes-on review: the 40mm and 135mm. ZEISS Supreme Prime Radiance
ZEISS Supreme Prime Radiance (SPR) lenses are a new set of 7 lenses that artistically emphasize ghosting (flares) and are consistent across the entire set. They are based on Supreme Primes with a warmer color tone. They are not simply the same lenses with the coatings removed. There is no loss of light and no uncontrolled “white-out.” Instead, Radiance lenses have newly formulated T* Blue coatings. While there are 13 focal lengths in a set of Supremes, a Radiance set consists of 7, from 21mm to 100mm, all T1.5. There will be limited production runs. read more…

The new Leica SL2 comes with improved ergonomics, a more comfortable grip, in-body image stabilization and excellent 4K Full Frame video. The L-Mount’s 20mm shallow flange depth and the in-camera stabilization accommodate Leica M, S and R lenses. PL, LPL and other cine lenses not only fit but also benefit from the 5-axis sensor stabilization. Meanwhile, Leica continues to roll out an impressive series of new SL lenses.
