March 28, 2024, Munich. Johan de Nysschen has been appointed President and CEO of ARRI Americas Inc. He will also be responsible for ARRI Rental North America and Illumination Dynamics—and reports directly to Matthias Erb, Chairman of the Executive Board at ARRI.
Johan de Nysschen worked as a consultant for ARRI for the past months, recommending the company’s next transitional steps. His LinkedIn profile is a prolific list: BMW South Africa, General Manager Audi South Africa, President Audi Japan, President Audi America, President Infiniti Global, President at Cadillac, COO Volkswagen NA, Chairman at Chattanooga Transportation Authority and Board Member at Univ. of Tennessee College of Engineering and Computer Science. He has an MBA in marketing and finance from the University of Pretoria.
Automotive News wrote, “Johan de Nysschen has stood under the hot glare of the auto industry’s brightest spotlights for more than a decade. Like some of this industry’s biggest characters, the quick-witted and erudite South African never failed to both entertain and express his opinion.”
Matthias Erb said, “The Americas has been a key region for ARRI for many decades and its future success and development is vital for ARRI globally. We will continue to expand our business systematically into new market segments such as live entertainment, corporate and studios that hold major potential across all business units. To take these next steps, we are further developing our global organization including ARRI Americas.”
Johan de Nysschen added, “ARRI’s product portfolio has inspired creatives in Hollywood and around the world for decades. ARRI has so much to offer, not only for motion pictures but also in live entertainment, virtual production, and beyond. I look forward to the challenge of facilitating a new era for ARRI in the Americas.”
Glenn Kennel, President/CEO of ARRI Inc for many years, has been appointed Executive Vice President Sales for ARRI Americas and will report directly to Johan de Nysschen.
ARRI Americas Inc. was the company’s first subsidiary outside of Germany, set up as Arriflex Corporation of America in 1958. Today, ARRI Americas Inc. oversees a region that includes ARRI and ARRI Rental offices across the United States, Canada, and Brazil. Illumination Dynamics, a wholly-owned subsidiary of ARRI Rental, manages two locations in the United States: in Los Angeles, California, and Charlotte, North Carolina.
I read somewhere that Mr. de Nysschen is also a wine aficionado, so I think we’ll get along fine. Cheers.
Congratulations Johan, welcome to the ranks of the unretired.
What a luck for ARRI!!!
