Here’s the lens that many cinematographers have been waiting for from Cooke. Cooke introduced their new 65 mm Macro Anamorphic /i 2x Prime lens at Cine Gear. It has a close-up magnification ratio of 4.1:1.
Anamorphic lenses typically don’t focus as close as spherical primes. For example, a Cooke 25 mm Anamorphic/i will focus to 33” while a Cooke S4/i 25 mm focuses to 9” and an S4/i 50 mm focuses to 20”.
So here’s the lens for ECU portraits, product shots on commercials, or any time you need to fill the 2.40:1 frame with something very close. To get an idea of how close, multiply the magnification ratio (4.1) of this lens by the width of your sensor. (e.g.: 4.1 x 22 mm = 90.2 mm, which is 3.6 inches.)
