Eleven Sigma Aizu T1.3 FF Primes

Now there are 11. Sigma has added 3 new focal lengths to their Aizu Prime Line—the world’s first Full Frame series of cine lenses to achieve a maximum aperture of T1.3 across all focal lengths1.

So for all DPs and Rental Houses who asked or pleaded for additions to the original core set, here’s looking at you and me.

The look is painterly, smooth and gentle yet sharp where you want sharpness. You won’t get fired by a persnickety producer protesting that the star’s eyelashes are soft. Details don’t go mushy. Wide open at T1.3, the look reminds me of an Impressionist painting. Backgrounds can have a swirly out-of-focus character, with big, graceful bokeh. At every aperture, skin tones are silky smooth, not clinical, with a gradual focus fall-off. Landscapes, trees, flowers and nature have rich texture, depth and fine detail. Focus is breathless from ECU to far away.

Sigma Aizu Primes remind me of a modern re-imagining of 35mm format Super Speeds or Master Primes redux in a Full Frame world. They are extremely fast and incredibly small. The focus mechanism is as silky smooth as the actors’ skin tones.

Sigma describes the look as “quiet elegance and depth, consistent across the entire range of focal lengths from 18 to 125mm.” Shipping fall 2026.

And yes, there will be 12th lens in the set: the 18mm T1.3.
