Just when we thought Blackmagic was busy enough with their new 12K LF and 17K 65 URSA Cine Cameras, along comes this 2x 8K Stereo 3D camera for Apple Vision Pro.
Blackmagic Design announced their new Blackmagic URSA Cine Immersive Camera today. Designed to shoot Apple Immersive Video for the Apple Vision Pro — it’s expected to ship in 2025.
Apple Immersive Video is a 180-degree area of view format using extremely high resolution video and spatial audio. The Apple Vision Pro is a 23 megapixel (7.5 micron pixel pitch) 3D Micro OLED wearable device. It can play multiples of 24 or 30 fps (48, 96, 60, 120 fps etc) video and mirror images via AirPlay from your iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV (2nd generation or later), or AirPlay‑enabled smart TV.
Camera
Blackmagic URSA Cine Immersive has two (binocular) fixed lenses system attached to the camera the body. Each of its two sensors can record 8160 x 7200 resolution video with pixel level synchronization and 16 stops of dynamic range to a single file. The lens system uses accurate positional metadata embedded in the Blackmagic RAW files that travel through post production.
Immersive DaVinci Resolve
A DaVinci Resolve Studio update will support editing, grading and delivering Apple Immersive Video in Q1 2025. A new immersive video viewer will let editors pan, tilt, and roll clips for viewing on 2D monitors or with Apple Vision Pro.
URSA CINE Cameras
The Blackmagic URSA Cine camera models are made with a magnesium alloy chassis and a lightweight carbon fiber polycarbonate composite skin. Connections include 12G‑SDI out, 10G Ethernet, USB-C, XLR audio, etc. They have a big 5″ fold-out HDR touchscreen monitor and status LCD on the port side (camera left) and another 5″ HDR touchscreen focus puller and DIT monitor on the starboard side (camera right).
URSA Cine Cameras are powered by a 24V DC onboard battery or through an 8-pin Lemo connector for 24V DC (a 250W power supply is included) or 12V DC external power supplies. Cameras are fitted with a B mount (Bebob style) plate for batteries from IDX, Blueshape, Core SWX, bebob, etc. Gold Mount Plus adapters are also in the works from Creative Solutions.
