“Monet and the Birth of Impressionism” is an exhibition at Frankfurt’s Staedelmuseum not to be missed. The show has been extended to June 28 because of huge attendance. Try to book tickets online. (The website is challenging.) It’s art as a contact sport and not for the claustrophobic.
The comprehensive exhibition follows the emergence and evolution of Impressionism.
The “hero” is Claude Monet as Impressionism’s lead character, along with his colleagues Auguste Renoir, Édouard Manet, Berthe Morisot, Edgar Degas, Alfred Sisley, Camille Pissarro, etc. They revolutionized art in the years that followed.
