1. Sony NEX-5 Digital Still Camera
Unpack Sony NEX-5 Camera. Attach MTF PL Adapter. Attach Hoodman HoodLoupe with thin Velcro strips. Someone will undoubtedly come up with a nice bracket that mounts to the 1/4-20 thread on the bottom of the NEX-5. Zacuto Z-Finder Jr and Pro and Dorn’s iDC Viewfinder with mounting brackets probably attach directly already, but I haven’t tried that yet.
As mentioned earlier, the NEX-5 is an accidentally magnificent finder. All the stars were perfectly aligned: no mirror, 18 mm flange focal depth, APS-C (23.4 x 15.6 mm) sensor, live view, expanded focus, manual exposure. It’s not perfect: I have a wish-list for the next NEX. The current on-screen menus are intended for photo neophytes, adjusting shutter speed and ISO requires digging into menus, and an eye-level mini electronic dioptered finder like Leica’s would be brilliant. But, for the moment, the NEX is as good as it gets.
