October 23, 2026. Otto Nemenz International celebrated the opening of their New York City offices last Friday. The famous camera rental company founded by Otto Nemenz in 1979 on Sunset Boulevard has expanded with offices in LA, Atlanta and now New York.
And what a wonderful location it is. On the Brooklyn Sunset Park waterfront, a 12-minute ferry ride from Wall Street, ONI NYC is in the historic Brooklyn Army Terminal. There is ample parking for your car and equipment cart, massive freight elevators to move equipment and a picture postcard view of New York Harbor.
Brooklyn Army Terminal was built in 1918. The photos of Elvis Presley deploying in 1958 were taken there. The facility was purchased by New York City in 1981. With 59 waterfront acres, 4.3 million square feet of space, outdoor park-like areas, 100 businesses and 3,500 people working there, BAM is a wonderful place to work and check out camera gear.
You’ll see the familiar ONI white cases of cameras, lenses and AKS. The choices of lenses, vintage, tuned, modern and custom are all there: Ottoblads, Otto Portraits, Ottolux…
The windowed camera and lens departments are full-service, complete with a Chrosziel TP-7 upgraded for 65mm formats.
Oh, and the opening party was terrific. Here’s a slideshow. Click to enlarge:
