Panasonic VariCam Master Class with William Wages, ASC

The Studio-B&H and Panasonic Cinema present an evening with cinematographer William Wages, ASC for an exploration of his real-world production experience with VariCam 4K cinema cameras. Bill will discuss the upcoming feature film, The Forgiven, and explain in practical detail how the VariCam LT changed his way of working (lighting, saving time, budget, etc.) Exclusive content of The Forgiven will be screened.

Other topics will cover VariCam’s Dual Native ISO sensor technology and Bill’s recent testing of the new, compact Panasonic 5.7K AU-EVA1 cinema camera.

The presentation will be followed by a Q&A session.

After that, there will be hands-on time with the complete VariCam system: VariCam 35, VariCam Pure, VariCam LT and the recent EVA1. Attendees will have the opportunity to interact with the Panasonic and Studio-B&H digital cinema teams and learn about various workflows, including Panasonic & CODEX V-RAW.

William Wages ASC recently shot THE FORGIVEN (directed by Roland Joffé) with VariCam LT 4K cinema cameras. He began his career shooting commercials and documentaries all over the world. Next came features (IRON WILL and Maya Angelou’s DOWN IN THE DELTA) and television (the final season of REVOLUTION, three seasons of BURN NOTICE, and the Spielberg-produced mini-series INTO THE WEST.) He has won three ASC awards and was nominated for six additional ASC awards and two Emmy awards. Wages developed a number of tools that contribute to his on-set efficiency and flexibility, including Tiffen Glimmerglass diffusion filters and two flagging devices named by his crew WagFlags and WagBags. Wages continues to live in Atlanta, GA where he was born and raised.
