Angénieux has been rambling along many red carpets recently. What do red carpets and a prominent cinema lens manufacturer have in common? Quite a bit, actually. In addition to the similar colors of red carpets and red Angénieux logo and branding, these festivals have showcased many films shot with Angénieux zooms.
The Cabourg Film Festival (June 13-17) is one of France’s most popular events for young actors and filmmakers. Angénieux was an official sponsor and provided the prize for the winners of the Short Film and Feature categories with loaner Angénieux zoom lenses to shoot their next project.
Pierre Andurand, President of Thales Angénieux, presented the grants of Angénieux lenses at the award ceremony on Saturday, June 16.
Dominique Rouchon, Angenieux’s International Sales Director, was a member of the jury for the Short Film Category.
Among the winners at Cabourg (Golden Swans), the following used one or several Angenieux zooms:
- Les Adieux à la Reine / Farewell, my Queen directed by Benoît Jacquot – Romain Winding, Cinematographer – Golden Swan for best actress awarded to Léa Seydoux (who has taken off after walking in the rain in Midnight in Paris
- Cloclo directed by Florent Emilio Siri – Giovanni Flore-Cotellaci, Cinematographer – Golden Swan for best actorawarded to Jérémie Rénier
- De Rouille et d’Os / Rust and Bone directed by Jacques Audiard – Stéphane Fontaine, Cinematographer – Golden Swann for best cinematography
- Jane Eyre directed by Cary Fukunaga – Adriano Goldman, Cinematographer
- Ma Bonne Etoile directed by Anne Fassio – Antoine Roch, Cinematographer – Public Prize / First Rendez-Vous with an actress Prize awarded to Fleur Lise.
