Michael Bravin to ARRI Inc.

Michael Bravin is now at ARRI Inc. as the go-to guy handling ARRI’s arriving ALEXA cameras. Official title is VP of Market Development for Digital Camera Products. He will work out of ARRI’s Burbank office.

This probably signifies two things. 1. It looks like the new cameras code-named ALEXA might actually be named ALEXA. 2. ARRI gets a very familiar digital guru…or should I say evangelist because of the beard?

Michael will be responsible for marketing, training, and education for ALEXA digital cameras in North and South America, working with CTO Glenn Kennel, VP of Camera Products Bill Russell, and Digital Camera Product Manager Stephan Ukas-Bradley.

With over 30 years in the production business, Michael was Chief Technology Officer at Band Pro Film & Digital Inc. In his 15 years with Band Pro, he was instrumental in expanding the market for HD technology for digital cinematography, including the recent introduction of Sony F23 and F35 cameras.

At Band Pro, he worked closely with Carl Zeiss in the development of the DigiPrime and DigiZoom cine lenses for 2/3” HD cameras. Prior to Band Pro, Bravin was with Abekas Video Systems where he was involved in the transition from analog to digital tools for live television and the postproduction industry. He also previously served as General Manager for California Communications, Inc., a Hollywood film and video equipment rental, stage rental, and postproduction services company. He began his career in live production with NBC Sports. Michael is an Associate Member of the American Society of Cinematographers, a member of the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers and the Digital Cinema Society. He was a founding instructor with the Santa Fe HD Workshops, educating and training cinematographers, operators and camera assistants.
