Cooke Evening

More than 65 guests attended the annual Cooke Evening on April 13, 2011 to mingle and discuss the state of the motion picture industry. Oli at NAB 2011

Sony’s theme was “Believe Beyond HD.” The Digital Cinema Society’s seminar was titled, “3D, 4K and beyond.” We saw plenoptic lenses selectively adjusting focus within a scene. Sony PMW-F3 Zooms and Updates

Sony’s F3 Camcorder uses the same CMOS image sensor as the NXCAM 35. It measures 23.6 x 13.3 mm, with a 27 mm diagonal — 16:9, APS-C format. At NAB, expect to see an RGB 4:4:4 and S-Log (Sony’s gamma curve) output option up to 30 fps, and SStP (Simple Studio Profile) 4:2:2 up to 6o fps. You’ll be able… read more…

Cooke 5/i Dimmer

Update: the Cooke 5/i lenses have an external dimmer, made by Transvideo. As an alternative to using the iris ring to control the focus scale illumination settings, you can plug one end of this small box into the camera’s RS receptacle, and the other end attaches to the /i connector on the lens.
