Sparkling Bistro Munich

Sparkling Bistro is one of the best new restaurants in Munich. Recommended by Juerg Pohlman and Walter Trauninger, who know these things, it’s tucked away behind a lovely terrace on Amalienpassage off Tuerkenstrasse. It is a block away from ARRI.

The name may come from the extensive list of bubbly beverages,  and what better way to celebrate ARRI’s 100th anniversary.

Next, go for the wine pairing with the chef’s menu degustation. The cuisine is all about fresh food, farm to table, dock to dish, and sustainable sourcing. Young Austrian chef/owner Juergen Wolfsgruber (above) creates culinary masterpieces with the exuberance of an artist who clearly loves what he is doing.

He’ll suggest the route. Ours began with slivers of Arctic char impossibly but deliciously drizzled with caramelized sugar and micro greens.  Scallops topped with foam followed. Then foie gras in a chocolate sauce, fillet of beef on a bed of new potatoes, and finished off with a stellar soufflé. Sparkling Bistro. Amalienstrasse 89, 80799 Munich, Germany.
