Martin Kreitl Managing Director Band Pro Munich

Martin Kreitl is the new Managing Director of Band Pro Munich beginning September 1. Martin has been a familiar face in the industry since 1985.  In 2000, Martin and some partners produced one of the world’s first films in 1080 / 24p. The short film “Gone Underground” jump-started  most HD productions in Germany. Three years later Martin Kreitl founded his own company, MKMedia Production. For more than 13 years, Martin worked at Band Pro Munich in various positions, most recently as Head of Sales and Marketing. read more…

Scorpio Full Frame Anamorphic 2x Lenses

It was a crackly, barely audible yet reliably confirmed source the mobile phone. Did I hear correctly? It was OK to publish this news? Let’s hope so: Servicevision will announce Scorpio Full Frame Anamorphic 2x Lenses at IBC. They will be call FFA — as in Full Frame Anamorphic. 2x squeeze. Same maximum aperture of T2.2 as the Scorpio 2x Anamorphic S35 set. They will be the same size, or close to it. Resolution and look will be the same. There will be a whole set. Zooms as well. The lens assembly team at Servicevision has been working on the FFA lenses for some time, and they should be ready to ship in about 4 months. read more…

Clairmont Equipment for Sale

Denny Clairmont writes, “I have sold Clairmont Camera to Keslow Camera and am happily  retiring. They did not want the film cameras so I have a lot of them to sell.  “I have two brand new Vist Vision movements.  There are 2-perf cameras, 3-perf cameras, and 4-perf cameras, and any kind of magazines that were ever made.  Even 800 ft Arri 16 SR magazines.”

New AbelCine Website

AbelCine’s new website has gone live. It is blazingly fast and well organized. It senses when you’re using an iPhone, smartphone or tablet, so you can shop, rent or learn anywhere. Searching is simple and quick, with tabs and filters to help narrow results. The search box is also smart. For example, if you can’t remember how to spell KipperTie, results will start showing up once you get to “kipper.” The website is a great reference for product specs.

Filming the Solar Eclipse Aug 21

This is the story of Stephen Pizzo’s enthralling preparations to shoot the Solar Eclipse on Monday, August 21, 2017. This is the first total solar eclipse across the continental United States since 1918. The Moon will pass between the Sun and Earth, blocking the face of the Sun and leaving only its outer atmosphere, or corona, visible in the sky. The epicenter of the total eclipse will be in Carbondale, IL. The project includes a number of firsts that rely on state-of-the-art digital cinema cameras as part of an advanced astro-imaging system built specifically to capture the first US-wide eclipse in a hundred years. read more…

Panasonic AU-EVA1 VariCam Mini

It’s certainly not officially called VariCam Mini. But that’s what some people were calling Panasonic’s new camera that was shown under wraps at NAB and unveiled at Cine Gear Expo. Updated details were announced today, August 3rd. The Panasonic AU-EVA1 is a new, compact, lightweight cinema camera that fits in a backpack and shares many qualities of the Varicam LT, VariCam 35 and VariCam Pure product line. read more…
