Leicas at FGV Schmidle

[nggallery id=10]

I don’t know if it could be called an opening of the floodgates, but deliveries of Leica Summilux-C lenses are popping up all over the place. Otto Nemenz has taken delivery of more than 25 sets. There were recent sightings in Singapore, a set at Clairmont Camera in Hollywood, TCS in New York, PhotoCineRent Paris, EyeLight Belgium.

I was visiting Markus and Oliver Schmidle of FGV Schmidle yesterday when Gerhard Baier of Leica and Rainer Hercher of Band Pro Munich walked in to deliver a set of Summilux-C primes. A look at the photo gallery, above, shows the cool case from Cocoon–very nice layout, CNC custom-cut foam in a rigidized aluminum case.

Note also the interchangeable focus scales in meters or feet. (to be swapped by a qualified lens technician, not to be attempted in the back of a camera truck.)

Also, note the silica gel inserts in the ARRI Alexa cases–a good idea to absorb moisture when opening and closing the case in humid, rainy places.
